About Brooke R. Glessing, MD

Dr. Brooke R. Glessing is a nationally recognized, board-certified and fellowship-trained Gastroenterologist and Advanced Endoscopist at The Gastroenterology Group in Akron, Ohio. She has dedicated her career to providing compassionate, high-quality, patient-centered medical care. She also has a passion for education, patient advocacy and advancing the field of gastroenterology. 

Before joining The Gastroenterology Group, she was an Assistant Professor of Medicine with the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and the Director of Endoscopy at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She also served as the Associate Program Director for the Gastroenterology Fellowship program. She was previous Medical Director of the Digestive Health Institute at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood, Ohio. Dr. Glessing has advanced training and expanse knowledge in the management of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver, including acute and chronic pancreatitis, necrotizing pancreatitis, pancreatic cysts, pancreatic cancer, bile duct stones (choledocholithiasis), bile duct strictures, bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma), large polyp removal, colorectal cancer screening, gastroesophageal reflux disorders, and diseases of altered anatomy. As an Advanced Endoscopist, her areas of expertise include endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic pancreatic necrosectomy and endoscopic mucosal resection along with colonoscopy and upper endoscopy. 

Brooke R. Glessing, MD, received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana (2002) and then attended the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was awarded her medical degree in 2007. She conducted her Internal Medicine Residency at Hennepin County Medical Center, a Level I trauma center in Minneapolis, Minnesota (2007-2010). In addition, she is fellowship trained in gastroenterology (2010-2013) and advanced endoscopy (2013-2014) at the University of Minnesota Medical Center – Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dr. Glessing further received board certification in internal medicine and gastroenterology from the American Board of Internal Medicine and remains at the forefront of this challenging specialty via memberships and affiliations with professional societies, such as the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Pancreatic Association. She is currently on the editorial board for the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (GIE) journal, a peer-reviewed scientific journal and the leading international publication in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy. 
Throughout her many years of experience, she has upheld a steadfast commitment to the ethical and professional standards of her practice and has been named as one of Cleveland Magazine’s Best Doctors since 2021. She is extremely excited to be joining The Gastroenterology Group and looks forward to providing comprehensive, compassionate, and individualized care to her patients. She dedicates her spare time to traveling, house renovations and spending time with her family. She also loves the theatre, Cleveland sports and the Cleveland foodie scene.
