Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
Advanced Diagnostics at The Gastroenterology Group, Inc. — Serving Akron and Massillon At The Gastroenterology Group, Inc., we are proud to offer Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) — a highly advanced, minimally invasive procedure that combines endoscopy and ultrasound to examine the digestive tract and surrounding organs with exceptional precision.
In addition to EUS, we also evaluate and treat a wide range of esophageal disorders, ensuring comprehensive care for our patients.
What is EUS?
Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) uses a thin, flexible tube (endoscope) equipped with a small ultrasound probe at its tip. This technology allows our specialists to get highly detailed images of your digestive system and nearby organs such as the pancreas, liver, bile ducts, and lymph nodes — far more detailed than traditional imaging methods.
EUS helps diagnose a range of conditions including:
-
Pancreatic masses or cysts
-
Unexplained abdominal pain
-
Bile duct stones or blockages
-
Staging of gastrointestinal cancers
-
Chronic pancreatitis
-
Enlarged lymph nodes
Why Choose EUS?
Unlike standard imaging (like CT or MRI), EUS provides real-time, high-resolution images from inside your body. It also allows for fine-needle aspiration (FNA), meaning our specialists can take tissue samples during the procedure for more accurate diagnosis — often avoiding the need for surgery.
